84 Harbour Drive - For Sale

84 Harbour Drive
Summerville
Bonavista Bay

Traditional waterfront Newfoundland vernacular biscuit box located in an active fishing community.

The location is ideal and about a half hour from Clarenville, about 20 minutes from Trinity and about 45 minutes from Bonavista.

Nestled below the three fisherman’s sheds / stages is a secluded private beach.

The upper shed is ideal for storage and the lower two would be ideal spaces for a bunkie or studio.

Many of the shores supporting the shed have been replaced / reinforced.

This three bedroom, 1 ½ bath home is being sold mostly furnished. with the exception of a few items to be removed by the current owner.

The kitchen and eating area, looks south out to the harbour, with access to the spacious deck where one can enjoy the incredible view. The orientation ensures a sunny space throughout the day.

The new owners will enjoy the warmth from use of the Vermont Castings wood stove in the cozy living room.

One can consider year round living or use as a seasonal residence. There is also an opportunity to use the property as an Airbnb when not being used personally.

Some refer to this area as the tropics of the Bonavista Peninsula and it does indeed have a bit of a micro-climate when compared with the rests of the district.

This waterfront property is the perfect location to use as home base for boating as one can readily explore the sheltered waters of Newman and Clode Sound in Terra Nova National Park https://www.pc.gc.ca/en/pn-np/nl/terranova , and all the inlets and long draughts of Bonavista Bay. In addition, a trip by boat to the the Eastport Peninsula https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastport_Peninsula , including Salvage https://www.facebook.com/VisitSalvageNL/ and Happy Adventure https://www.facebook.com/happyadventureinn/ makes for a very pleasant afternoon adventure.

There is a very deep trench just outside Summerville which is the summer home for Sperm Whales, and Humpback and Minky whales occupy the bay throughout the summer season. The area is also outstanding for enjoyment of a meal of cod and a feed of tongues during the summer food fishery. In addition, Summerville is an active area for the commercial fishery and a variety of seafoods can be bought directly from fishermen throughout the season.

Hikers ( http://hikediscovery.com/ ) will be amazed at the options presented in the area and on the peninsula. In addition, this area is among the best in the province for picking wild blueberries and partridgeberries. Bakeapples can be found if you endear your self to local residents who may know those special spots. The same applies the fabulous gourmet Chanterelle mushrooms.
