Caines House, Port Saunders - For Sale

Caines House Port Saunders

This vernacular structure was built around 1925 as the residence of Isaac and Susie Caines. It served as their residence from 1926 until 1960, at which time they moved to a small bungalow on the same property. There have been no changes to the interior of the house, so it has remained a typical two-story Newfoundland outport dwelling. From 1960 to 2013, the property has been used as a vacation home for the Caines family.

Contents of the house, including a dining room set, Piano, Organ, bedroom sets, artifacts and other typical household furniture including several items of furniture, hand-made by Michael Caines, Isaac’s father are included with the property.

This could be your home base to enjoy all that the Northern Peninsula has to offer. Port Saunders (http://www.townofportsaunders.ca/) is about 2.5 hours drive from Gros Morne National Park and and three hours drive from The Viking site at L’Anse Aux Meadows at the tip of the Northern Peninsula. There are three salmon rivers within 10 Kilometres of Caines house and the mighty Torrent River, a producer of large salmon , and the Big East, River, are about a half hour by car. Caines house can also be your base for winter skidoo trips as the terrain and scenery is outstanding with consistent snow throughout the winter months.

So whether you are looking for a seasonal residence or a house that could be used as a year round family home, this house, priced at $25,000 may be worth of your consideration.
